About CLIVEA

Education is not scarce. There is a lecture for every topic, a video for every concept and a book for every section. What is scarce is anyone teaching you how to approach the thing in front of you.

Most teaching runs one way. Someone arrives, speaks for an hour and leaves, and nothing in that hour was shaped by the person listening to it. You can sit through all of it, understand all of it, and still be alone with the question of what to do tomorrow morning.

What a student actually needs is closer to a tutor who sits with them. One who talks with them rather than at them, listens long enough to understand how they reason, teaches the approach rather than the answer — and when the session ends, says plainly what to study next.

That was the first version of CLIVEA, and it was built for school and college students.

Then I went looking for where this mattered most.

It was not the students with the most left to learn. It was the students already doing the work — the ones who study hard, review everything they miss, keep a record of it, and still cannot say what they should do differently tomorrow.

That describes MCAT preparation almost exactly. The exam is conceptually heavy and enormous in surface area: you are expected to hold a great deal in your head and reason with it under pressure, across four sections that reward four different kinds of thinking. And the students preparing for it are not careless analysts. They keep error logs. They sort misses by root cause. They review every full length. Some of them run fifteen-column spreadsheets.

And the sentence they type into a search bar more than any other is that their score is not improving.

A student who does no analysis has an obvious problem. A student who does careful analysis and still does not know what to do next has a more interesting one — and it is a problem of approach, which is the thing CLIVEA was built to teach.

So the idea did not change when it met the MCAT. It found the people it had been about all along.

You study inside CLIVEA, out loud, with your own AI tutor — the same tutor in every session, so it knows how you work by the third. It teaches concepts, passages, practice and full-lengths, across every section, CARS included.

While you work, it watches: what you said and on which question, what you picked, how long you took, and what you skipped. That is the error log, and it is written during the session instead of by you afterwards.

Then it reads today against every session you have had before it, names what those sessions have in common, and gives you one next move.

Not “review acid–base”. Closer to: redo the four buffer questions you changed.

The whole argument is in that gap. A log records one question in isolation, which is all the format can hold — but the thing you keep the log to find only exists in the pattern across hundreds of them, over weeks. That reading is real work, it is the step that quietly never happens, and it is the step CLIVEA does. There is a longer version of this argument on what an MCAT error log can and cannot tell you.

CLIVEA has not launched. That makes this the easiest moment to be exact about what it does not do — so it is here, in one place, rather than in the small print of a page you were not going to read.

1. No score claims. No point gains, no percentiles, no “students improved by”. There are no students yet. When there is data worth showing, it will be shown with its sample size attached.
2. No testimonials. Nothing on this site is a quote from a student, because no student has used it yet. The first real one will be worth more than a page of invented ones.
3. It does not replace AAMC material. Keep buying it and keep sitting the official full lengths. CLIVEA is for the months before that final stretch — which is also when reasoning habits are still worth changing.
4. It does not hand you a study calendar. One next move after a session, not a twelve-week plan. Plans are easy to generate and almost impossible to keep honest against a real week.
5. It only sees what happens inside CLIVEA. It cannot analyse a session you had somewhere else, and it will not pretend otherwise.
6. It is not affiliated with the AAMC. MCAT is their registered trademark. CLIVEA is independent, and unendorsed by anyone.

None of that is modesty. Every one of them is a claim a competitor could make freely and cheaply, and the reason not to make them is the same reason the product exists: a confident answer that is not backed by evidence is exactly what has been wasting your evenings.

If you are preparing for the MCAT and something here is wrong, or right, or missing, I would rather hear it than not. It comes to me, and I read all of it.
